Vision
To generate creative opportunities that allow the arts to positively transform the audience as well as the artist.

Mission Statement
As a bluegrass-folk band, The Medicinal Strings have a mission to share, promote, and inspire the arts within the lives of those most in need.

Goal
To bridge economic and social gaps by sharing and discovering the creative talents in underserved communities.

Objectives
1. To work out of homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and hospitals in several cities including: Denver, Omaha, St. Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, and St. Paul.
2. To give the underserved an opportunity to express their history, culture, ideas, feelings, and opinions through the arts; i.e. concerts, story telling, talent shows, poetry circles, publications, and recordings.

Time Duration
The Medicinal Strings are flexible when it comes to scheduling. The group can perform a single concert, conduct a full day workshop, or stay at each site for up to three days.

Types of Performances
Music shows can be small, acoustic, relaxed performances, or they can be formal, amplified concerts. The type of concert will be determined by the site director.

Safety & Solidarity
The Medicinal Strings realize that safety is a crucial element of their mission. While the group tries to promote a sense of solidarity with those in need, they have a clear understanding of necessary precautions. These precautions include:
• Keeping an appropriate distance in all relationships,
• sleeping off site,
• no substance use at any point during the stay,
• establishing additional safety policies with each individual host.

The Medicinal Strings believe that the sharing of talents can effect a mutual transformation which enriches all the lives involved.
